We volunteer, campaign and educate to welcome refugees

Story

In the UK people seeking asylum are locked out of university. They are treated as international students, do not have access to student finance and are not allowed to work. In addition, many refugees and asylum seekers find the UK university system difficult to navigate and struggle to get the help they need to do so. Your donation will go towards:

  • Funding STAR's work with young people seeking refugee protection to develop their campaigning and activist skills by helping to shape STAR's access to university work
  • Enabling STAR to continue its work developing life-changing scholarships and access pathways to provide higher education to people seeking refugee protection in the UK.

Thanks to the Equal Access campaign, 74 universities now have an Equal Access policy offering over 200 university places each year.

Your support will help provide even more resources to campaign for more places for vulnerable people who want to continue their studies. Without this scholarship, I and so many other students like me would have never had the chance to go to university.

Your support can make a difference! :)

About the charity

STAR is the national network of students building a society where refugees are welcomed. Working together we volunteer and work directly with refugees, campaign for policy change and equal access to university for refugees, and learn about refugees and asylum.
