Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. WE DID IT!!!!! 2 photos to prove we did the night walk - one on route with the Household Guards, taken about 2am and one at the end with our medals, daylight breaking with Tower Bridge in the background. We all had a really good night, it was a great atmosphere and we thought of all the money that we'd rasied to keep us going! The route took us via some hidden gems of London although we're not sure we'd find them again in daylight! We started with a night time flight on the London Eye, then onto the Channel 4 building in Horseferry Rd, The Royal Geographical Society in Kensington Gore, Maggie's Centre on Fulham Palace Rd, Fulham Palace, Battersea Power Station (soup & sandwiches here which were very well received!), Horse Guards in Whitehall, Savoy Place for champagne over looking the Thames (we didn't enjoy that stop at all!!!) then back to City Hall. We finished at 5.45am and then tucked into bacon rolls and made our way home - by Tube rather than walking. We all just want to say a huge big thank you to each and every one of you who has sponsored us so far. Anyone out there that hasn't sponsored us yet - there's still time!
(page updated Sun 20 Sept)
Well in an unbelievable time (by Thurs 10 Sept) we reached our target that the Maggie's Centre set us of £1,200!!! We have therefore decided to raise our target to £2,500 which with your generous donations we're sure we can achieve. A really huge thanks to all of you of have already donated, this is really going to make a difference to the Maggie's Centre.
Mary's Mates (Alison, Anne, Debra, Maria & Shirley) are walking 20 miles on the London Night Hike on Friday 18 September. Our very dear friend Mary sadly lost her battle with cancer on 16 December 2008 at the age of 44. She was so very kind, thoughtful, funny and caring and is greatly missed by all her mates. Not all of the walkers knew Mary directly but it just goes to show how she touched their lives in one way or another.
Mary found great comfort and reassurance in her visits to the Maggie's Centre in London and we just want to show our appreciation by walking the 20 miles and raising as much money for them as we can. Please dig deep and help us support them. Thank you :) xx
