We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

On the 27th June 2019 we laid to rest, far too soon, my hero, best friend, and younger brother; Andrew Godfrey.  Andy leaves behind many who loved him and who miss him everyday, including a son who's first birthday fell just two weeks after Andy died.

I have promised him that I am going to run a marathon in under 4 hours - and I intend to do just that at the Brighton Marathon in September 2021 (was planned for April 2020, but then...covid).  I am pleased to be able to raise some funds and awareness for the amazing charity, Bowel Cancer UK, along the way.

In July 2018, Andy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer. By the time it was caught, the Cancer had already spread to the liver, lymph nodes and bone.  In the end they were simply unable to stop it spreading further, and we lost him less than 12 months later.  Bowel Cancer is a treatable disease if it's caught soon enough, but as he was so young it was the last thing anyone was looking for, despite his symptoms. The average age to be diagnosed with Bowel cancer is 64, Andy was 38.

The #nevertooyoung campaign from Bowel Cancer UK seeks to raise awareness of the symptoms in younger people, and to lobby for better diagnoses and treatment within the NHS.  If we can prevent just one more person dying from this disease, then that will be a start.

Please give what you can to support Bowel Cancer UK's work, or as a minimum visit their website and make yourself aware of the symptoms.
