Story

In July this year I will be making my eighth trip to the villages and refugee camps on the Thai/ Burma border to help train local healthcare workers and medics form among the Karen people. These healthcare workers and medics then return to their rudimentary healthcare clinics in the villages of the Karen State within Burma and provide the only available healthcare for hundreds of thousands of the worlds most oppressed people, a people in continual conflict with the brutal Burmese military Junta.

In 2012 - 2013 Hope 4 The World trained over 50 healthcare workers in providing basic medical assistance to adults and children suffering from the areas most common illnesses, as well as in basic dentistry, treating victims of trauma and in midwifery. Starting in May this year we are training a further 25 medics using an established 30 week medical curriculum tailored to the healthcare needs of people living inside the war-torn Karen state within Burma.

In 2012-2013 over 50 UK doctors, nurses, dentists and midwives participated in the training. As volunteers we pay our own air fares and expenses as well as make a donation to the charity ourselves to help fund the training courses. However, as our projects become more ambitious and we deliver longer and more comprehensive training, our costs increase. Money raised is be used to pay for teaching materials as well as the accommodation, food, writing materials and textbooks of the trainee medics, many of whom walk several days through the jungle from their villages to attend the training courses, living away from their native villages for prolonged periods of time.

I would be grateful if you would consider sponsoring me and being one of many who will help me and others to train healthcare workers and medics on the Thai/Burma border, medics who will go on to treat some of the most inhumanely treated people on the face of the earth

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
