RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We are raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

The challenge is to kayak from Fort William to Inverness along the Caledonian Canal which is a distance of approximately 60 miles!  A group of us will start at Fort William on the North Atlanic and finish at Inverness on the North Sea North, taking in Loch Ness (23 miles long and up to 1.5 miles wide). We are aiming to complete the route in just 2 days which normally takes 5 full days.

Why: Partly as a tribute to Gavin Butcher, a volunteer crew member on the Newhaven lifeboat who lost his battle with cancer in late February and  secondly to help the RNLI raise funds to enable their volunteers  to operate 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Our team consists of 7 crew members of the Newhaven Lifeboat and 6 friends of the Newhaven Lifeboat.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 25%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

So please dig deep and donate now and you can really help me and the rest of the team smash our target.
