Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ever since I was a small boy, I had dreamed of running marathons.
Until a few years ago, this remained an unfulfilled ambition. However, when I stand in Greenwich Park to await the start of the 2013 London Marathon, I will have completed seven marathons and be preparing to run my eighth!
These have all been completed in the last half a decade.
I met my wife Samantha in 2006.
These two facts are intertwined.
She inspired me to believe I could achieve anything - before I just had no confidence or drive to deliver my goal of running 26.2 miles non-stop. Her support has also extended to the many thousands of miles I have needed to run in training to prepare for these tests of endurance. She has been fully understanding of the resultant time this has taken away from our family life.
This is even more remarkable when you realise that she suffers very badly from migraine and has done for several years. Rarely a day goes past without this chronic health condition causing her pain and discomfort.
She is not alone.
There are eight million people in the UK who suffer with migraine. There is no other neurological condition that affects so many people.
I have been struck by the amount of people who I have spoken to recently who suffer in the same way as my wife does.
It is time for me to give something back to her and the many millions of sufferers and I will be running the 2013 London Marathon to raise money for The Migraine Trust.
Their vision as a charity is that of a world free of migraine.
I sincerely hope you will support them in this vision and I am very grateful for your support.
