Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is my sister, Anna's story from 20 years ago:
After a car accident on the cat and fiddle road outside Buxton on Friday 4th December 1998 I had a lung collapse and was placed on a life support machine called ECMO, which is a heart and lung bypass machine based in Glenfield hospital in Leicester at the time the machine was not funded by the NHS so I was extremely lucky to get a place on it. The charity Heartlink support the ECMO machine and the families of those receiving treatment.
For the 20th anniversary of this, Anna is doing a year of fundraising for Heart Link and this is part of our small contribution. We are running the Greater Manchester marathon on the 8th April. This will be Amy's first ever marathon and my third. We are both incredibly excited, nervous and proud to be doing the run.
