Story
I, Matt Hearnden, am taking part in Tesco Does Strictly Come Dancing 2 in order to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society & Alzheimer Scotland charity, Tesco Charity of the Year 2011!
I will be performing my dance, Modern Jive, on Thursday 19th January, 2012 (in front of a very large audience!).
I will be updating the page with photos and videos of my training, so keep an eye out if you want a laugh!
The facts:
This year 100,000 people will develop dementia
1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia
There is no cure for dementia, but, with the right support, people can live well with dementia
Furthermore:
£10 could enable someone to have a full conversation with a Dementia Support Adviser and receive advice and information they need
£50 could fund a whole day of a PhD researcher's work, looking into the causes of dementia - research that will, one day, lead to a cure
A number of my relatives have suffered from dementia, and so it is a charity close to home. I'd absolutely love to reach my target of £100, so please, please give whatever you can in order to raise as much money as possible for a great charity! :)
If you are visiting this page to purchase a ticket for the night (£30) then thank you very much! Please just click on 'Donate' at the top of the page and enter "£30" for how much you want to donate.
The event will take place at Stevenage Leisure centre (glamorous I know) and doors will open at 6pm. The dress code is 'Strictly Black Tie', there is a buffet dinner, and, concluding the evening, an afterparty! But, to be honest, seeing me dance will make the whole event worthwhile anyway!
If you are buying a ticket, please state in the comment that you would like a ticket, and do not click in the Gift Aid box as it is illegal to Gift Aid if you are getting something in return for your donation. If you are simply donating to the cause, then please do click Gift Aid!
Note: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
