Amazing that you've seen this as a link worth clicking. Here's a little ditty to explain why I think you're here:

In the spring of 2012 I am taking part in the Marathon des Sables (MdS): a 150 mile foot race through the Sahara desert. This six-day stage race (longest day 45-50 miles) will present some known and many more unknown challenges for me and the other men and women taking part. Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell wrote his MdS story in 2010, reflecting on “The toughest race of [his] life”. This event has physical, emotional and financial implications for which I will need support from many; support from people who share my vision for the good that adventures can achieve. The purpose of this is to gather the 'cash tick' bit from you!

I will be raising private sponsorship for the Moroccan Children’s Trust: a project establishing excellent work in the area to enable sustained education and activity, improving outcomes for young children. The people of Morocco are giving me an opportunity. Having taken a sabbatical year from my primary teaching post, MdS will provide a story that I can take back to the children motivating them towards a yes of their own. In a period where the school sports programme has lost significant government investment, I want to model what sport can achieve.

There is a website with all of this bumpf on it (I know, a website! www.biscoexplorerdesertman.webs.com). If you're here, you may well have already been there. Thank you so very much for doing both. I will try to remain interesting and worth a revisit! Great and wonderful things will reach you in recognition of your generosity.

Thank you.
