We provide mental health treatment to veterans from every service and conflict

Story

Hi there all,

As a lot of you know I am swimming from England to France this September with Tom Hardy. All is now in place and we have a window for the swim on 1st-5th of Sept.

I am doing the swim for a charity that means a lot to me. The charity is http://www.combatstress.org.uk/ and they are the UK's leading military specialising in the care of veterans mental health. To some it is a foreign subject but one that is VITAL to enable the support of our service men and women who see and are involved in life changing experiences while serving our country. Any question about the Charity or the affect of being away on operations then don't hesitate to call.

The swim.......We have both been training since about January and are currently pushing out 1-3 hour swims daily and 4+ hour swims on a less frequent basis. The Channel swim will be about 11-16 hours depending on the sea state so we will be coming out like dried prunes!! A lot of people don't complete the swim due to fatigue, cold, weather, and tides. You can't really stop at any time either due to the fact that once you stop swimming you start to get cold which is the main factor in failed attempts.

This swim is going to be cheeky and is certainly a one off....SWIMMING FOR 12 HOURS NON STOP IS NOT THAT FUN!

I would greatly appreciate anything that you can give!!

Matthew

Ps anyone free and fancies a swim then give me a call and I'll be there.....just not after the 5th of Sept!
