Design and build a school in South Africa · 17 December 2012

Our life-changing research can fight diseases, tackle global challenges and change society. At Nottingham, students from all backgrounds can achieve extraordinary things, in and out of the classroom. But talent needs a catalyst. You can shape the future and help make the incredible happen, every day

Story

My story

36 architecture students have taken the ultimate challenge; To design and build a nursery school in Limpopo, South Africa. Calais village is in desperate need of a new nursery school. This school will have such an impact on the community, spuring development within the village. Its incredible that something we've designed ourselves will have such an impact on people that really will appreciate it. All the money raised here will go straight into the project, and help pay for building materials and skilled labor.

Over the past 2 months I have been designing a scheme along with 5 team mates, that with any luck will be chosen to be built out in South Africa over Easter. Every part of this project has been down to us, we have to fundraise ourselves, design our scheme, create the construction drawings and even go out there and build it!

The more money we can raise, the greater the impact we can make! We really want you to get behind this project, if you're interested in design, and want to see where we are in this project.
