I am doing this challenge to raise funds for PSC Support and in doing so, help provide support to those people who suffer from the rare and currently incurable liver disease, such as our team organiser's wife Susan (see Jonathan Wilson's page). 

Discovering and living with acute diseases and the ever present and underlying risk that things could change for the worse is truly life changing.  The shock and devastation is lessened somewhat by understanding and sharing fears and concerns with people who are experiencing the same condition and are knowledgable about the disease. 

This is something that I and my dear wife learned when, in 2010, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Of course breast cancer, while being equally devastating, is more common and as such there is more information within the health services and other support groups to help people come to terms with the disease, its treatment, risks and consequences. 

PSC on the other hand is rare and the information that comes from our NHS is often limited.  Sufferers therefore rely on the work of support organisations such as PSC Support.  You can read more at their website: http://www.pscsupport.org.uk/
