Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

Hi Everyone

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Mud Run JustGiving page.

Many of you know how ‘Clean & Tidy’ I like to be but on the 27th December 2009 I shall be taking part in the Maldon Mud Run www.maldonmudrace.com.  Although this is a Fun Event, I have also chosen to set up a charity page in favour of BLISS – For babies born too soon, too small, too sick.

Bliss, the special care baby charity, provides vital support and care to premature and sick babies across the UK. Founded 30 years ago, they offer guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives. They also fund ground-breaking research and campaign for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born.

This year Bliss celebrates its 30th birthday, their work has supported a generation of special care babies and in this time, survival and outcomes for babies have improved radically. In 1979, only 1 baby in every 5 born at less than two pounds survived. Today, 4 in 5 do.   Further information can be found at www.bliss.org.uk

I am grateful that my own daughter was only born 3 weeks early and at 5lb she was able to support herself.  This could have quite easily been a different story if she had arrived just 1 week earlier.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I would be grateful for any support you can offer so please dig deep and donate now & if you're local come down to Maldon and have a laugh, while enjoying watching all of us silly sods get caked in mud!

Thank you for your support.

Matt.
