My wife and I are part of a team of 30 people who volunteer at the Stony Stratford branch of Winter Night Shelter MK. I've been involved for 3 years. I am a team leader (overnight shift) and have seen first hand how amazing this charity is. Every week during the winter season the shelter will be full of guests, all homeless (and mostly men). They are given good food, a place to wash and clean their clothes and a warm bed for the night. It's a place they can relax and rest. We get to know the guests pretty well, play pool or table tennis with them (I often lose) and help them with problems as varied as completing benefits forms to finding accommodation and jobs. The whole project runs across MK each week and is funded from donations. That's why I'm raising money for it.
