Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the last few years I've wanted to take part in a challenge for charity. I've looked at a bike ride through Malaysia, the London Marathon, a Kilimanjaro mountain ascent and other such adventures.......and for one reason and another, always found a reason why I couldn't take part (aside from the obvious one of not being physically or mentally strong enough!)

Towards the end of last year, my friend Spencer told me about the ThunderWalk. Anything with "walk" in the challenge title immediately appealed and on that basis I said yes. Then I found out what it is.....

On the morning of Saturday 12 May 2012, hundreds of people will gather in the Brecon Beacon’s National Park to take on one of the most exhilarating challenges of their life – ThunderWalk 2012.

This team-based endurance challenge will see me tackle 54 miles to complete the route within 24 hours, crossing the highest peaks in the Brecon Beacons and South Wales – Pen y Fan (886m), Corn Du (873m), Cribyn (795m) and Fan y Big (719m)!

Just to context, that's walking the equivalent of two marathons across rough terrain, through the night in 24 hours!

I have chosen to support the No Surrender Charitable Trust.

No Surrender is a fantastic charity set up by one of Suzie's friends who she lived with at University, Jason Boas. Tragically, Jason died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 34. No Surrender is a legacy he started before he died to help others deal with the same struggles he faced...... The video link below in the Gallery section gives you some background on Jason and the charity.
