Story
Well it is just twelve months, after a rather horrific accident which meant I was not sure if I would walk again. Well my seven bones have healed, the pins have been removed and on the 1st July, I am walking again!!
In fact I will be walking just over 24 miles over the three highest peaks in Yorkshire in (hopefully) under 12 hours.
I am doing this as a personal goal, in the aftermath of the accident, as I distinctly remember a physiotherapist response, as I was being shown how to use a walking frame, to my rather flippant remark about doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. She commented, that with my injuries, not only would I not be doing it then, she questioned whether I would ever be able to do it. It is thanks to the help of the hospital and the physiotherapist in question that I feel I am able to complete this quest now.
I am delighted to be doing it for The Michael Lewis Foundation, as when Cheryl & Tim Lewis, great friends and work colleagues of mine lost their 20 year old son, tragically in November 2015 to a diabetes relates incident, they have worked tirelessly to raise money to ensure other sufferers get the best support possible and hopefully prevent other families having to suffer such a huge loss.
So please dig deep to support this excellent charity and give me the motivation to make it with my team of Chris Edwards, Joe Griffin and Rob Key, over this arduous task.
