Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am 26 year old adult with Aspergers Syndrome. I was diagnosed with having the condition as an adult (20).   Over the years I have found social interaction quite difficult this has been most prevalent when I go for a hair cut. “This is because I've found that the hairdressers I've been to before tend to chat to me as if I'm an old friend even though I don't know them, and this makes me very uncomfortable and anxious!”   Due to the uncomfortable experiences I have gone through over the years he decided that it was too difficult to go through the torturous time of sitting in a barber’s chair.   Five years down the line and I still has not gone back to the hairdressers and has never had a hair cut in that time.   Around 18 months ago I came into contact with The Main Project; a charity that provides advice, support and services to people with an autistic spectrum condition across the Tees Valley. I have since been working here as both a volunteer and an employee.   I have worked in the MAIN Meal kitchen; he has co-presented Autism Awareness courses both at The Main Project and at external sites such as schools and other businesses. I now has an administrations role within the MAIN Project.   Through the support given to me during his time at the MAIN Project he has decided that he is finally ready to get his hair cut again after five long years.   As this is a massive event for me I have decided that I would not only get my hair cut but I would like to do it as a charity event.    I have decided to donate all sponsorship money to the MAIN Project.   As this is a major event in my life we would like to gain as much publicly for the event as possible, we are therefore looking for your support to make this event a big success for myself, and to give me the confidence to over come his anxiety on a regular basis.    The Hair cut will take place on the 11th July Time to be confirmed   PLEASE DIG DEEP Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
