Wilmslow Half Marathon 2014 · 23 March 2014 ·
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I will be running a half-marathon in aid of Spinal Research in Manchester on 23rd of March.
This charity is extremely dear to me as I was introduced to it by a friend whose dad was left paralysed by a car accident, and who is actively involved in the running of the charity.
On a more personal note, I suffered a neck fracture whilst playing rugby in December of 2013. I was lucky enough to make a full recovery and, a few months on, I have a burning desire to challenge myself and prove to all the doctors, surgeons and therapists I have seen; as well as to myself, that I am capable of a sustained physical effort, desite never being able to play contact sports again.
The fact that I am running for a charity which specialises in helping people who have been in a similar situation as me makes me even more determined to raise as much as I can to support their research projects in their fight against paralysis.
Having been told only 2 months ago that I may never run again, this chllenge is one of the most daunting and exciting things I have ever attempted and your contributions and support would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Matthew Steadman
