Congratulations!! By logging on to this page, you're now part of a very special event - you've chosen to support an elite team of athletes as they take on a running challenge that makes the Olympics look tame...........
Well, ok, there's only two of us right now. And we can just about manage to run up a flight of stairs (a small flight. Maybe.......!!) - but that's all about to change as Darran Kitchener and I (with the help of crucial support team!!) train to complete 6 road races in 6 months. We're starting with the Great Manchester Run, a mere 10k, in May, and will have run two half-marathons by the time we finish in Edinburgh in October, including the Great North Run.
I'm running for Macmillan Cancer Support. Working so closely with cancer patients in my professional life has given me first-hand experience of the incredible work of Macmillan Cancer Support, and of Macmillan nurses, as they go about the extraordinary job of supporting those affected by cancer. Darran is running on behalf of the MS Society - his justgiving page can be found at www.justgiving.com/6in6
To keep you up-to-date with our progress over the next few months, to share with you the highs and the lows, the agony of training and the ecstacy of actually finishing a race, we'll be writing a blog, which you can find at http://6racesin6months.blogspot.com/
The more you give now, the more likely it is we'll do something equally as silly for charity next year!! You can donate on paper sponsorship forms if you'd prefer, or just click on the "donate" button below - easy as!! And don't forget the "GiftAid" bit.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
