My story

Lovely friends, family and colleagues

Matthew’s Mountain Climb!

I will be hiking in the Carpathian Mountains in the Translyvania region of Southern Romania on 24th of October. Yes, real mountain territory in spectacular autumn weather!! At 3000m, the peak of Caraiman is the target - twice the height of Ben Nevis. My aim is to raise money for the Epiphany Trust to support their work with orphans in Romania.

This charity has been known to me for some time and whilst in Romania I will be visiting the homes they run as part of their work. Rather than operating ‘institutions’, the Epiphany Trust specialises in creating a ‘family home’ environment. It grew from outpourings of generosity in response to the needs of orphans at the end of the Communist era in Romania in 1990. Twenty years on and the orphans of those images have now grown up. This year's fundraising effort will support the establishment of a new house to assist their transition into adult community life. Your donations can provide the life skills needed to take the steps to independence. Part of our trip will involve going to meet the young people to learn about Romania and their life there.

We do need your help and deeply appreciate any support you can manage for the challenge.

If you are a UK Taxpayer, please fill in the Gift Aid form so that your donation will be worth 28p for each £1 given.
