I know that many of you know that I do silly things like walking many, many miles for the 'pleasure' of it, but it's not very often that I ask for sponsorship. However, on this occasion the opportunity is there for you to sponsor me to take part in the Six Dales Circuit and make sure that I have a worthwhile incentive to complete the course! The Six Dales Circuit is a 26 mile route starting from Biggin in Derbyshire and heading through the following Dales - Biggin, Wolfscote, Beresford, Lathkill, Bradford and Long Dales - eventually arriving back in Biggin village some 26 miles later. For this event I would like to raise money for Edale Mountain Rescue Team. Edale Mountain Rescue Team (EMRT) operates in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire and is one of the busiest Mountain Rescue Teams in the UK. In 2010 their team members attended 140 incidents throughout their area which covers parts of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. The team receives no central funding from government and rely entirely on donations to raise the money they need to run the team. All monies raised are used to improve the service they offer to the public by investing in equipment maintenance and renewal, training for members, running 3 response vehicles and 1 search control vehicle; as well as planning a secure financial future for the team. For anyone that enjoys walking in the great outdoors (and particularly the Peak District) it's reassuring to know that dedicated people like the EMRT are there to help in case we ever find ourselves in need of help. If you feel that you would like to donate whatever you can afford to give will be fantastic (from a few pennies to a few pounds) and will help to keep this important service running. Thanks very much for your time and your kind donation. Matt Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
