Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some of you may be aware that I was diagnosed with a rare form of vasculitis called Wegener' Granulomatosis . Due to the fact that it is a multi system disease can make it difficult to diagnose and can go unrecognised for years and can be fatal http://www.thelaurencurrietwilightfoundation.org

My sysptoms started in 2000 but I wasn't diagnosed until 2003 when I became seriously ill and was hospitalised over Xmas and New Year.

Thankfully, because I was caught in time and treated I have come through it and now enjoy more good days than bad ones. When I was disgnosed there was little in the way of helpful infomation or support around at the time. Thanks to networking and new technologies things are changing for the better.

Many of you will know that I have a nursing background and also worked in reseach for a number of years. But it is because of what I've gone through that I now want to raise public awarness of this silent killer and contribute some money towards further research in this area in order to help others. Therefore any money raised through this page will go directly to the University of Aberdeen Development Trust fund as the vasculitis medical team at ARI are working hard in this area but sadly lack serious funding - they need about £80,000.

So I'd like to try and raise as much money as I can for this cause and ask that you dig deep and sponsor me in this first challenge and help get me off to a flying start

So I guess I better get those running shoes on!

Many thanks for you donation.

Mo.
