Hi all, 

On April 6th 2013 Sarah Groves was tragically murdered in Kashmir. 

The Sarah Groves Foundation was set up in Guernsey as a Charitable
Trust with the aim of fulfilling Sarah's own ambition in life - to enhance the lives of young people. The philosophy of the charity is to achieve this in two ways – in the way funds are raised and in the way they are distributed.

How funds are raised

Drawing inspiration from Sarah's love of art, children, adventure, and fitness the charity organise and support life-changing fundraising initiatives. The charity encourage people from all walks of life to take on challenges that they wouldn't normally consider or that wouldn't normally be available to them.

The main fundraising event for the charity is a 700 mile bike ride - The Tour de Sez. The Tour de Sez 2018 will take place in September between Guernsey – Amsterdam –Guernsey. 

As a member of the 2018 team I will be raising funds for The
Sarah Groves Foundation by both participating and organising many events throughout the year. You can support my own personal efforts to reach my target by making a donation via this JustGiving page.

How funds are distributed

To date the charity has invested in a variety of projects, each one specifically designed to directly enhance the lives of young people. The charity work very closely with local child/youth oriented non-profit charities and commissions to deliver life changing opportunities and
experiences within the local community as well as opportunities further
a-field. A playground in Mgungani School Tanzania, where Sarah volunteered, was built in 2014 and there are plans to develop a Classroom for the children of  Mgungani School.
