My story

Maximus David Mark Cosgrave was born with an exompholas major at the QMC Nottingham on the 8th of May 2009. He was cared for by the staff at the Neo-Natal intensive care unit. He was a very happy little boy who loved to pull his feeding tube out on a daily basis, fill his nappy like all the little babies around him and have everybody wrapped around his little finger.

On the 31st of May 2009 Max's stomach flipped on its self. The doctors and nurses spent over 12 hours trying to help him but after major surgery he passed away in his Dad's arms after he said his goodbyes to all his family. Our little gladiator was just too little.

We will never forget the job the nurses did for us on a daily basis, it is one of the hardest jobs in the world.

We are fundraising to firstly say thank you and secondly that it might help another family in the same situation.

Just to update everyone, we would like to let you know that we have commissioned a cooling blanket for the Neonatal Unit in Max's memory.  This will help babies with neurological complications, as there is only one blanket shared between City Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre, it is deparately needed, we can then help twice as many babies on their fight for survival. Although we have reached and exceeded our original target, we have decided to purchase this much needed equipment which is slightly more than we orignally hoped to achieve, but will be critical in helping babies in the Neonatal unit at both hopitals.

Thank you all so much for your continued support Claire and Mark Cosgrave
