Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

Our mission is improve the lives of all people affected by ME. Working towards a future where everyone with ME receives the understanding, equity and care they deserve. We provide practical support and healthcare services, as well as funding breakthrough research and campaigning for change.

Story

I'm running the London Marathon for Action for ME, to support my aunt, who has had the illness for eleven years, and has so little energy she is forced to spend most of her time lying down, though she really wants to get up and run the marathon herself.

Action for ME works to raise awareness about this misunderstood illness, offer support to the 250,000 people in Britain who have it, and promote much-needed research. The causes of ME are not properly understood and there is currently no effective treatment, so there's a lot of work to do.  That's why I've put on my running shoes.  I hope you'll want to make a contribution to AfME.  My aunt used to go for a run before breakfast every morning, and though she hasn't managed to beat me in a race since I was about eight, I'd like to see her try.  Thanks very much for your help.
