Earlier in the year I put my name up for the BUPA Great South Run, joining 21,000 other runners for the 10 mile road race through Southsea, Portsmouth on 25th October.

I have decided to run for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, a local charity which gains no government or national lottery funding.  Without such support it provides an amazing service to Dorset and Somerset from its base at Henstridge Airfield and therefore it needs continuing support to ensure the survival of its service.

The Charity needs to raise more than £3,500 per day to ensure that the service can continue to fly, and since its launch in March 2000 it has attended over 6,000 rescues, many of them life saving.  The Air Ambulance, on average, is called out 3-4 times per day and is able to reach anywhere within the 2 Counties within 19 minutes of an emergency call.
