The Sycamore Trust was formed in 2014 following on from the successful merger in 2011 of two local charities:
- Barking & Dagenham Mencap – who provided support for people affected by learning disabilities
- Parents of Autistic Children Together (PACT) – which provided support for people affected by autism spectrum disorder
Since the merger, the organisation has grown and expanded the services and support it provides. The Trust currently offer a range of services specifically designed to support families and individuals affected by autism and learning difficulties. Services provided in Barking and Dagenham:

- Football and Multisport
- Befriending
- Support Work
- 18-25 Social Group
- Adult Social Groups
- Family Support
- Parent Support
- Way2Say Project
- Advocacy/Supervised Contact
- Parenting Assessments
- Family Activities
- Training/Conferences
- Autism Ambassadors Training Project
- Parenting Pathways (for adults with LD)
