Hey Everyone,
My team and I (from Year Here) are raising money to enable a Fellow with limited financial resources to participate in the Year Here programme. The money will be raised and distributed through our partners CIVA, and all proceeds will go to a Year Here Fellow.
Putting a year aside to do to Year Here is a big sacrifice for anyone, but if you have no savings or parental support taking part can be near impossible. We want to work with people who have the most potential for social impact, regardless of their background or financial circumstances, and we definitely don't want to contribute social inequality.
On a personal note, Year Here has been a once in a lifetime opportunity for me since leaving University - I got to experience a range of amazing placements, became so much more confident in my own skin and even managed to set up an education business, which is a dream come true. I am running and fundraising so that talented young people with limited financial resources are able to take part in this fantastic programme and develop themselves and society.
Over the past few years, we've been able to provide bursaries through generous contributions from philanthropists. We want to expand the number of bursaries we can offer to enable more people get started as social entrepreneurs, and to use their creativity and energy to help make a better world.
We think that crowdfunding is a good start, which is why we are running Hackney for the 5th year in a row. We're asking for your support to meet our target of £5,000. This will enable one Fellow to participate in our ten-month programme, delivering hundreds of hours of voluntary work, with the potential to go on to change the lives of thousands of people. Please help us to help them change the world!
We have a record-breaking squad of runners this year, featuring Jack Graham, Beth Pilgrim, Josh Babarinde, Sarah Johnson, Liv Dowd, Verena Wimmer, Sam Firman, Ruba Huleihel, Dami Fajobi, Alex Botham, Afolabi Adekaiyaoja, Simone Osei-Owusu, Tessa Jennett, Matilda Lawrence-Jubb, Mursal Hedayat, Sarah Haville and Dan Robinson!
