Kilimanjaro Trek · 20 June 2014
This summer I'm climbing Mount Kilimanjaro along with a group of students at University of Leeds, in order to raise money for the charity Moving Mountains. Feel like its going to be the most incredible challenge and a lot of hard work! But between us all were hoping to raise over £30,000 which can make a huge difference to peoples lives where its most needed.
Slightly nervous about climbing for a week straight but plan 'Get Fit for Kili' is already underway so I'm going to be gymming it like crazy to make sure I can get all the way to the top!! Going to be doing loads of fund raising activities, trying to raise as much money as possible, so please if you can, help out in any way!
Moving Mountains has projects all over the world but were going to be raising for the Kenya one; they work closely with schools, orphanages, clinics, community centres, rescue centres for street children amongst a huge range of organisations. Their work serves to support thousands of people in impoverished communities and strives to promote self sustainability to create real long term differences. Before we do the climb, were spending some time in Kenay visiting the projects where the money is directly going.
The total amount I'm hoping to raise is £2300, and its broken down with £1225 going directly to the charity, Moving Mountains, and the other £1075 covering the cost of the trek itself (park fees, trek costs, staff fees etc) The £1075 covering the trek will be paid for out of my own wages from part time work, so any donations will go directly to the charity!
Any donation, no matter how small is greatly appreciated so thank you so much!!!
