THE MIGHTY AFRICA RALLY

 

Massive, ridiculously hot, covered in deserts and some of the wildest jungles in the world; Africa calls like a siren in the night. Come hither and do thyself a mischief, she says. They said the car would never make it, they said the roads in monsoon season was impassable, they said this was the most ludicrous and stupid idea they'd ever heard of. But the twenty-eight brave teams that made it to Cameroon in the pioneering 2008 Africa Rally proved them wrong. The World's Second Africa Rally starts from England on Sunday 13 December 2009 and we plan to raise an even vaster amount of cash for charity and see even more mayhem in the process!

                                                                             APE ACTION AFRICA

Wild gorillas and chimpanzees are on the brink of extinction. Habitat loss and poaching threaten these magnificent animals like never before. Ape Action Africa is committed to ape conservation in Africa - protecting Cameroon’s great apes through direct action. Our front line conservation work includes rescuing orphaned or injured gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys, providing them with individual care, and giving them a safe forest sanctuary home where they can live with their own kind. Our goals are to address the immediate threats faced by gorillas and chimpanzees in Africa, and to work with local communities to develop long-term solutions that protect them well into the future. We rescue orphaned and injured gorillas and chimpanzees – some only days old and hours from death – from poachers and bushmeat traders. We also work directly with local communities to ensure a greater understanding of primates and the importance of their long-term protection, and to create suitable habitats where great apes can one day live in their natural environment safe from the threats of encroachment or poaching.
