Story
Sarah and I will be venturing off to Eastern Uganda on the 30th June for two weeks. We are going to a town called Ngora where there is a small government run maternity unit. In Ngora we will be working with the local midwives and student midwives to assess their educational needs and then passing on our clinical knowledge and skills.
Here in the UK we take the high level of research based care, expensive medical equipment and technology for granted. In Uganda women and babies are dying or being left with lifelong disabilities as a direct result of childbirth. We hope that by teaching the midwives some basic skills to deal with emergecies such as bleeding and newborn resuscitation we can help them to improve the lives of the women and babies the care for.
The trip has already been funded by the charity, however without further donations the TESO development trust will not be able to continue this type of educational charity work in Uganda. The money fundraised for TESO gets used in a number of ways such as; flying professionals to Uganda, buying educational aids for effective teaching and supplying basic medical equipment. If you cannot donate money, we are also collecting baby clothes to take out with us, so any unwanted baby bits you have stashed in the loft would be a wonderful contribution.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, we will update with photos and messages following the trip so you can see what your donations helped to achieve.
So please dig deep and donate now.
