We are a registered charity dedicated to providing assistance dogs to help transform the lives of people with physical disabilities. Our dogs allow our clients to enjoy a greater independence and quality of life, and we strive to keep growing so that we can help more people across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Hello. My name is Melanie Southworth. In May of this year, I and  my friends Ian and Hazel Gibb, shall be climbing Mount Everest and Lhotse (the fourth highest mountain in the world) respectively in aid of Canine Partners, an independent charity supported by Help For Hero's.

The charity, which celebrated its 25th Anniversary last year, provides assistance dogs to people with physical disabilities in order for them to enjoy a greater independence and a better quality of life.

We are very grateful for having the physical wherewithal to attempt our climbs, but are also acutely aware that there are over a million people in this country confined to wheelchairs who struggle on a day to day basis with simple tasks that we often take for granted. This is our small way of paying tribute to them.

If you would like to know more about the charity and its work there are excellent videos on their website – including a BBC broadcast hosted by Pam Ayers at

For those interested in following our climb over the next two months, we shall be posting blogs and photos online, as we take Canine Partners to the Top of the World.
