Hi
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So, you may or may not know by now that I am taking part in this years Virgin London Marathon! Something I have had on my "bucket list" for a good few years....just never been brave enough to take it on..until now!
I have gained a charity place through our local Weldmar Hospicecare Trust and will be running in memory of my dad Michael Shalts, for Help the Hospices.
This charity is particularly close to my heart as almost 10 years ago now, Joseph Weld Hospice helped make my dads last hours in this life, as comfortable and as pain free as possible.
Unfortunately, just 6 months after diagnosis, dad lost his battle to cancer of the oesophagus. But, with the care and support of the staff at the Hospice, he was able to do so with dignity, whilst surrounded by the people he loved. I cannot praise the dedicated staff enough for their constant kindness, care and support throughout this difficult time, not only for my dad but also for us, the family as a whole. This support continued long after dads passing and for as long as we felt we needed it.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I have been a little slow off the mark on the fundraising side of things and would really appreciate your support....my training on the other hand, has got off to a flying start! Every penny counts and each donation made by you, will help get me through, what will be the biggest challenge (physically) I have faced yet! Here's a few examples of what your donation can buy:
£10 - A donation of this amount provides essential clinical supplies for one patient for one week in Joseph Weld Hospice
£20 - A donation of this amount provides an aromatherapy or massage session for a patient which will help to reduce anxiety and relieve pain and sickness
£35 - A donation of this amount provides a visit by our occupational therapist to a patient in their own home, enabling them to retain as much independence as possible through the provision of equipment and/or rehabilitation as their condition allows
£50 - A donation of this amount provides a physiotherapy treatment for a patient in our Day Hospice or in-patient Hospice or in their own home to help manage symptoms such as breathlessness or pain, or to rebuild strength and mobility
This truly is a worthy cause, so please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you :)
