Well the walk went well, we had lovely weather and we didn’t get too cold. We walked for 8 hours, covered about 15miles, visited 11 checkpoints, and only got lost twice.
In total we will have raised approx £300 for Chigwell Riding Trust and would like to take this opportunity to thank all those of you who sponsored us.

Last year we took part in the Cambridge University Scout and Guide Club Marathon Challenge – a day / night incident hike in the Cambridgeshire countryside. We were given 26 grid references and set the challenge of reaching as many checkpoints as possible within a 9 hour period. Each checkpoint had points allocated and at those checkpoints that were manned a further challenge (accruing more points) was undertaken. In our allotted 9 hours we covered approx 18 miles and visited 15 checkpoints.
For some unknown reason we have decided to put ourselves through the agony again this year. However, this year all that walking should be put to good use as we have decided to raise money for the Chigwell Riding Trust.
For those who don’t know Chigwell Riding Trust was the first riding centre for people with special needs in the world. Riding instruction is given to people of all ages and abilities and it has approximately 160 riders each week. As one of the leading specialised riding centre in the country it not only benefits people with special needs but also the entire community, giving opportunities for volunteering, school participation and practical experience for children and adults working with people and animals.
Any donation you could make would be gratefully received. Many thanks.
