Story
There was a time when I would get out of breath whilst eating a big mac, so tackling the London Marathon in April is a pretty big deal for me. Not only will I be meeting a personal ambition of mine to complete a marathon, I will also be working towards a great cause.
I started working at the Whittington Hospital in August 2012 and my first year as a doctor has been rewarding. I signed up for the marathon in order to give something back to a hospital that works hard in giving great care to its patients.
I would like the money I raise to go towards special efforts by the Care of the Elderly Department which are only possible through charitable donations. I want to help support projects such as providing memory boxes for patients with dementia to help comfort them in unfamiliar surroundings and also other projects that help ensure a supply of clean and appropriate clothing on the wards as a number of vulnerable patients come into hospital with inadequate clothes.
As daunting as it is, I'm really looking forward to running the marathon. Knowing that all of your kind donations will be going towards supporting me will definitely motivate me in those final weeks of training.
