I AM CLIMBING MT KILIMANJARO! As readers of my column in The Spectator magazine will know, the only exercise I ever do is horse-riding – which is basically just sitting down and jiggling about a bit. I am not intrepid. In fact, I have been known to faint while pushing my shopping trolley to the upper deck of Waitrose car park in Cobham. I wasn’t at all sure about climbing Kilimanjaro then my good friends at the brilliant charity Footsteps International twisted my arm. Martin Print is a very persuasive man. He told me that the last time he did the climb he saw little old ladies flying past on their way to the summit. On this basis, I agreed to give it a go. Please, please, please sponsor me because I have a feeling he was just hallucinating through altitude sickness and it is actually going to be quite difficult.
