My story

I work for Wickes Building Supplies in Oxford and for the last 3 years I have been reading on our company intranet the amazing things that Wickes and its employees have been doing in the name of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. This year I applied to be part of a team of 20 to trek through the Talkeetna Mountains of Alaska. Walking all day covering 6 - 8 miles a day, with a back pack weighing somewhere between 25 - 30 Kg, scaling to heights of 2000m and down again, Camping out in the freezing cold with no creature comforts and as you may have guessed I got selected. So this is where my story begins.

You may think this is only 2 weeks and an awesome experience and you would be right to think that but for those of you who do not know me, I am what can only be described as “out of shape”. So I got some help from the lovely staff at Spirit Health Club based at the Holiday Inn to get me physically ready to undertake this challenge. The last month of my life has consisted of working, going to the gym and arranging fund raising events as this is all about making money for the Charity. The next 11 weeks are going to be no different, I have dedicated my life to this challenge for the foreseeable future and with your help and support we can all stand up and say we did something AMAZING.

Watching children die and not being able to stop it, seeing the pain on the faces of those people who are told they have cancer is something I never want to see again. If you agree with me then dig deep, get involved. In advance I thank you for your time, support and encouragement but mostly your money.

Lissy x
