The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity who creates, protects and cares for woodland across the UK. We are working hard to create a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. But we can't do this alone. We can't achieve our vision without you.

Story

Hi

As some of you who know me, know, every now and then I do daft things for charity and in this particular case I wanted to do something to remember a coule of  friends who are no longer around - Melly and Jane.

Being late Spring  I thought it would be nice to get a few trees out there in their names, which is what the Woodland Trust is all about. Could even go for a wood if your feeling affluent enough!

Oh the event? This time its a 1000 mile bike ride with 73,000 ft of climb over 9 days or something like that. I've been training since Saturday and think it should be OK, as long as the prevailing wind changes from SW to NE and someone gives me a push up the hills - should be fine going down.

From memory £20 or so should buy a tree but I fancy 10p per mile! Oh and in memory of some fantastic lunches and dinners I had with both I  will be treating it as one glorious pub crawl....

Cheers
