On 20th August 2010 I am taking part in the CHICKS 3 Peaks Challenge. There are 4 of us in the team and we are aiming to raise over £2,500 by climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours!
Here is what I am going to be doing:
5pm Start Ben Nevis. (1,344m)
10pm Finish Ben Nevis and start drive to Scafell Pike (seven hour drive).
5am Arrive and start climbing Scafell Pike (978m)
10am Finish Scafell Pike and start drive to Snowdon (three hour drive).
1pm Arrive and start climbing Snowdon (1085m)
5pm Finish Snowdon, and complete challenge.
The mountains climbed, in order of elevation, are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland (1,344 m or 4,409 ft), Snowdon in North Wales (1,085 m or 3560 ft), and Scafell Pike in the Lake District (978 m or 3209 ft). In all the challenge involves some 42 km (26 miles) of ascent and descent, with total travel approaching around 600 miles, not including getting to Fort William to start with and getting home afterwards.

CHICKS is a local charity which aims to provide as many disadvantaged children as possible with the life enhancing experience of a free respite break away in the countryside at one of their centres in Devon and Cornwall.
