We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

We've joined together to raise money for Cancer Research UK, because our mutual friend Jason Richardson is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Jason was initially diagnosed with a grade 3 brain tumour, which is inoperable, in 2007.  After radiotherapy in 2008 and then a course of chemotherapy in 2010, Jason went through a period of over two years without any symptons. Unfortunately, in late 2012 Jason started experiencing some severe headaches and after a scan, it was revealed that the tumour has grown. Chemotherapy has resumed and will continue until July 2013, when we hope another scan will show some positive results.

To raise money for Cancer Research UK, we are competing in a girls vs. boys 5km swim.  Each member of the team will swim 1km and of course, the team who finishes first are the winners! In fact, everyone who competes will be a winner, as our intention is to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity.

The event is taking place at Lime Kiln Leisure Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett on Monday 9th April 2013.
