We've Done It!!!!

For three days in mostly dismal grey, rain and cold, with just a glimpse of the sunshine, we rode the distance.

Each day contained at least 18 miles of climbs, some of which were quite monsterous; and some lovely flat stretches beside rivers and canals where the competetive elements took over and our average speed received a decent boost.

Our team fortunately received no injury as such, other than understandably, tired legs, and some sore bits, but other teams were not so fortunate with broken collar bones on the list.

Bikes and kit were not so fortunate with broken spokes, flat tyres, and a broken brake cable, so a spare bike was very useful to keep us on the road between repair efforts.

At the end of the challenge we are elated, and exhilarated and sharing a massive sense of achievement.  Bring on 2011!!!!!

Our Facebook profile "Mentmore Red Kites" has the full story in pictures  Please don't forget to sponsor us if you haven't already - there is still time!.

The whole event is being organised by Extra Mile Challenges - see below.  Our team's nominated charity to whom two-thirds of our funds will be donated is "The Florence Nightingal Hospice - Aylesbury"

Extra Mile Challenges is a Registered Charity (no.1100243) with the prime objective of donating funds to other charities. We raise funds by organising sponsored events – principally our annual 500-mile relay cycling Challenge in Europe. Please see the events page for further details of past and forthcoming Challenges.

Extra Mile Challenges are a voluntary organisation with no paid staff. One important objective of the trustees is to distribute 100% of team sponsorship to charity with no deduction to pay for administration or event costs.
