Story
William (age 5) has set himself a challenging goal of reading 50 books over the Easter holiday. He loves to read and he gets so much pleasure from doing so; he knows how lucky he is to have a home library full of so many wonderful treasures (the Encyclopedia Brown, Beast Quest, and Flat Stanley series are current favourites!). He and I would like to make sure that the gift of reading is available for all children, so we are supporting Booktrust, the national charity devoted to promoting reading for all chidren.
Through its acclaimed bookgifting schemes, Booktrust makes books available to all children in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In addition, Booktrust has recently launched the Children's Reading Fund, which aims to provide additional targeted support to children in particular need. A child in the care system is more likely to go to prison than to university -- with the gift of books, we can help change the story for these children.
Please consider a gift of whatever you can afford to help us reach our goal of raising £500 for Booktrust to support their excellent work. And please help cheer William on as he uses his holiday to read to help others enjoy the gift of books!
