Home at last!  It has been a great adventure with lots of ups and downs. I So far I am not missing the bike which will be shipped home in a month's time! More photographs will appear on the blog for any of you who are still interested ! Meanwhile an enormous thankyou to you all for your support.

Michael

Between mid April and mid July, I have undertaken a  motorcycle expedition from Cumbria to Beijing. The 12000 mile journey crossed Europe to Istanbul , follows the Silk Road through Bukhara and Samarkand, then a week was spent on the mountainous Pamir Highway in Tajikistan, the world's second highest international road. We enter Tibet, visit Everest Base Camp and Lhasa, riding over 5000miles in China itself. Three weeks were spent in altitudes of over 4000mtrs.

Friends have persuaded me to use this as an opportunity to support a local charity and with that encouragement we have decided on  the  charity 'Hospice at Home Carlisle'.  My initial reluctance was simply the worry of not completing the expedition as 20% of it is over very rough terrain.
Many thanks for reading this and for your generous support
