Deloitte Ride Across Britain 2019 · 7 September 2019 to 15 September 2019 ·

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

You might be wondering why I've decided to go on a 'small 980 mile bike ride' over 9 days this September...

Well, over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's 129 men every day and last year, my Dad was one of them. You hear about these statistics but it doesn't really hit home until you hear those words "I've got cancer."

Those words at the time were heart-wrenching, however the amazing work that Prostate Cancer UK do to research and raise awareness of this type of cancer meant that thankfully my Dad was diagnosed early enough to make a full recovery.

Through chemo and radiotherapy, he stayed upbeat and positive the whole time, using his go to phrase at every opportunity..."It's only a pain in the ass."

That is why I've decided to take on the Deloitte Ride across Britain, starting in the very South of the UK, Lands End on September 7th, and finishing 9 days later in John O'Groats at the very North of the UK. My very own "pain in the ass."

Every pound raised will go towards Prostate Cancer UK and their continued work to fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men. Additionally, Camelot will match fund the first £500 that I raise.

I will be posting updates throughout my journey on Instagram (@michaelexworthy) if you want to keep up with my progress!

Thank you for your kind and generous donations. Together we can beat cancer!
