My story
Walk further for Wimbledon5 covered 50 miles over three days on the London outer orbital path. Day one Thursday 26th April was a 22 miles section starting at 9:15am at AFC Wimbledon's ground at Kingsmeadow, into Kingston-upon-Thames to join the path near the River Thames. First leg can be found here: The route took us near Heathrow airport as far as Uxbridge. Day two Friday 27th was 17.5 miles from Uxbridge to near Stanmore. The final day Saturday 28th was from Stanmore to Barnet FC's ground at Underhill, around 10.5 miles. Time to watch the Dons in action at 3pm but they went down 4-0! I walked as a founder member of the Dons Trust and also as a member of Belfast Lions Club and will ensure that donations are evenly matched between the two projects. You can read more about the work of the Moorfields Lions Korle Bu Trust here:
HELPING TO TACKLE BLINDNESS IN WEST AFRICA BY DEVELOPING EYE CARE SERVICES IN GHANA AND TRAINING SPECIALISTS LOCALLY........
In West Africa, an estimated 2.6m people are blind. 80% of blind people affected suffer needlessly in developing countries because their blindness is completely treatable and/or preventable in the first place – sometimes in operations that can take minutes. Moorfields, the oldest and one of the largest centres for eye health in the world, has committed to developing an integrated eye unit and surgical training based at the main teaching hospital in Ghana’s capital Accra. Lions Clubs International are supporting the project. Helen Keller in 1925 urged Lions members to become "knights of the blind".

My fundraising page for Moorfields Lions Korle Bu eyeseight clinic project in Ghana has reaced £362. Help me to make it over £400! It will remain open for another month or so. 60 miles for 60!
This fund-raising page will remain open for the Moorfields Lions Korle Bu eyesight clinic project for another two months, so you still have a chance to make donations here.
Thanks to all those who donated and helped me reach my target of £200. I will match the other half for AFC Wimbledon (the Dons Trust) through other donations. This page will remain open for further contributions to the Moorfield Lions Korle Bu project.
Thanks very much for the donation Dave Crowley. Nearly there! Yes, I had similar thoughts after the match. But the velo & blue lads had tougher conditions than any of us!
Back home after accomplishing my 60 miles for 60 project. Three days doing 50m in London with some AFC Wimbledon fans. Mission accomplished! Donations still welcome.
