Mick's 26 marathons in 26 days.

From 9th May to 3rd June 2012, I Mick Foster is planning to complete the full length of the South West Coast Path, from Minehead in Somerset around the coastline to Poole Harbour in Dorset. It will be a staggering 26 miles every day for 26 days.

The ultimate challenge for a long distance hiker - a 630 mile adventure, with in total over 115,000 feet (35,000 metres) of up and downs.

I had a heart transplant some 19 years ago, I will be walking/running with my good friend John Trafford who also benefits from a kidney transplant. We are both passionate about Organ donation and I am very keen to donate every penny received towards the BHF 'The Mending Broken hearts' appeal. Heart and circulatory disease is the UK's biggest killer. Today, our only way of combating this disease is to encourage lifestyle changes or prescribe medicines which reduce the risk of developing heart problems, and try to minimise the disease's damaging effects through surgery and drugs. In short, there is no cure for a broken heart.

The Mending Broken Hearts appeal could change all that. Through investing in a programme of research into regenerative medicine, we believe that we can develop the technology to repair damaged heart muscle and diseased arteries. Research that could begin to literally 'mend broken hearts' in as little as 10 years' time and save improve the lives of millions within decades.

So please help me to reach my target of £26,000 - a £1,000 for every marathon completed in 26 days. Thank you.
