Hi Everyone, I am participating in the Cardiff Half Marathon on 7th October 2018 and running for #TeamSue.

I'm running to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, and to remember a very special person  - Sue Barter.

Sue sadly passed away at Velindre in October 2017 after battling Breast Cancer. The impact this awful disease has is devastating and long lasting. 

I only knew Sue for a short period in our lives, but in that time a lasting impression was made, and happy memories will live on. 

My son Jimmy joined the Old Penarthians RFC mini section in 2016, we had tried numerous clubs but eventually it was Sue's husband Stu who gave us the opportunity to come and try out mini rugby. For this we are so thankful.

From that point Sadie, myself and the kids (not just Jimmy) were made to feel part of something very special, the coaching set up and social engagement has been second to none, the whole ethos of the #oneclub could never be truer. I believe this is down to the hard work Sue, Stu and others have put into the club.

Sue was instrumental in creating the highly regarded mini & junior section at Old Penarthians we have today, and even started the regions first all girls rugby team.  A true trailblazer i'm sure you'll agree.

Sue was also a keen runner and fundraiser. I want to carry this on in her memory and raise some funds for Velindre Cancer Centre, who's dedicated staff do such a fantastic job under enormous challenges.
