When a good friend of mine (Greg Sim!) asked me to embark on this "little" bike ride challenge of starting in Nice and finishing in Paris, some 760 kilometres in five days, I jumped at the chance to join in on what I thought would be a great way to get some sponsors and raise some money for a very worthy cause. Then reality hit when I started training. This task is a bit bigger than I thought!! Anyway, I’ve agreed to do it so I’m looking forward to doing it - more importantly, finishing it!

The good thing I can tell you about me asking for your money is that it is for the Dallaglio Foundation of which, one of its chosen charity’s this year is DebRA which can really change people’s lives and while I initially thought of the hardship of this challenge I can’t help but think how my 5 days worth of pain can’t even come close to the pain the children that this disease effects! As I complain about the blisters on my feet and my sore “derriere” I know they can heal as opposed to the children that have sores all over that never heal.

The Dellaglio Foundation has pledged to help DebRA, as well as other charities, through this ride - so for those of you who know little about the charity and its cause....,

DebRA is the only charity to provide services and support to children and families who suffer from EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa), at the same time as co-ordinating and providing funds for the research (all over the world) to find treatments and ultimately a cure. EB Research has had some major breakthroughs in recent years and even months, and it is now at a point where, for some types of EB, it is moving from laboratory work to clinical trials - at last, for some of those affected by EB, we are just starting to see the benefits of 15 years of hard work in the labs.

While you think this is another plea for your money, I am just hoping to remind you that whilst you are digging deep in your wallets, I will be on the saddle doing the real hard work. Whilst I can only thank you for your support, those who will really benefit are the reason we’re doing this. I thought instead of writing a whole page on explaining why you should donate and support me in this challenge. Instead, I have uploaded some photos and these will show you the real reason we’re doing this, to help children and families who are in constant pain.

Please give generously as you think of me in the saddle!!!!
