Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. Our vision is that through the power of rugby every child and young person across the UK & Ireland, no matter what their background has access to the same opportunities.

Story

THE CHALLENGE
To celebrate reaching 50 last year I cycled from London to Brighton and raised over £1000 for the British Heart Foundation.

To celebrate reaching 51, this year I will be cycling from John O Groats to Lands End. 874 gruelling miles, starting on August the 20th and finishing 8 tough days later, the day before I'm 51. An average of 110 miles per day and unlike the tremendous feat achieved by David Walliams and co. in their Sports Relief relay event, I will cycle every single mile with my good friend Steve Lake and 30 or so other loony fund raisers.

THE CAUSE

I aim to raise £2500 for Wooden Spoon, a children’s charity founded in 1983 that is dedicated to helping underprivileged children and young people all over the UK and Ireland to live happier, richer lives. For more info see http://www.woodenspoon.com/

TRAINING

With only 1 month to go, the training is going well, an 80+ mile ride each weekend. Still a long way to go to reach the 110 miles per day average that we will achieve on the event.

PHOTO

I will try and add more photos and ask my daughters to explain how facebook and twitter works so I can update my progress. I'll see if I can also find some more interesting photos.
