Story

Sandra's Story  (birthday Challenge)

2020 is the year that COVID changed all of our plans, Also it was the year where I had a big birthday, one of the Scary Ones with a nought.

During the last year I set myself physical challenges to prove to myself that I still could but COVID changed everything and events were postponed. Roll forward a year and I've used every excuse in the book to avoid training and now I can't avoid it any longer as I have committed to the London Landmarks Half Marathon 1st August and other challenges later in the year to meet my next birthday deadline

Previous experience has told me the only way i would complete the course, is by raising money for charity and in this case Young Lives Vs Cancer which is important to me. I appreciate any donation that you are able to give

Helen's Story

I have never been one for running and I am in no means a natural athlete but during the first lockdown ( as many others did) I took to running and started off with the couch to 5k, which to start off with was very difficult ( I couldn't run 30 seconds without being out of breath) but I carried on regardless and found that I actually enjoyed running. As the couch to 5k ended I decided I would set myself a personal goal of completing a half marathon , so I have signed up along with Michael and his mum (Sandra) to complete the London Landmarks Half Marathon.  We will be running in support of Young Lives Vs Cancer (formally CLIC Sargent)  along in association with the Veronica Claxton Memorial Fund which has been raising money endlessly to help these poor children who are suffering.

The race is on 1st August, which will no doubt will be the hottest day of the year knowing our luck, and the training is going well, although I have had a small set back of shin splints but thankfully they are now gone and I am ready to get going again.  I am looking forward to raising Money for this amazing charity so any donations are greatly appreciated
